Community Watch Program

During the off-season, BRCOA coordinates a volunteer-led neighbourhood watch program (The Bird Watch) to help keep an eye on the community.

What We Do

Volunteers periodically drive through the Bird River area and observe properties from the road. If something appears out of the ordinary, it is reported to the program lead for follow-up.

What We
Look For

Visible Property Damage

Volunteers keep an eye out for signs of damage, such as broken doors or windows, that may indicate a property has been disturbed or needs attention.

Suspicious Activity

Any activity that seems out of place or concerning is noted and reported, helping ensure the safety and security of the community.

Trees Impacting Buildings or Power Lines

Volunteers watch for fallen or leaning trees that may pose a risk to structures or power lines, allowing for timely follow-up and prevention.

What to Expect

Bird Watch is intended to support awareness and provide an extra set of eyes while many properties are unoccupied. Volunteers do not enter properties, and all observations are made from public roadways.

Please note that we are only able to notify members if an issue is observed, as we do not have contact information for non-members.
